Dell Optiplex 990 Alert Cpu 0 Fan Failure

  • #1
[UPDATE]
[The issue seems to have solved itself, sort of; Pressing F1 after the alert has suddenly decided to work and extend with the boot.
I even so can't do away with the alaru but the organisation is up and running the cpu is being cooled sol i'm satisfied.

Thanks for the responses!]

- I've looked everyplace for a solution to this problem...

The CPU fan header on my Dell mobo has died, soh i replaced the winnow with a non-proprietary one and am exploitation a sata power transcriber to mogul it. But now connected startup i get the cpu fan failure alert and when i "strike the F1 key to continue" it does nothing but bleep at me.

I'm wondering if there is a direction to bypass the alert? I've not plant anything in the bios so far.
This is only my media pc and would exist fairly dirt cheap to replace but i hate the idea of motherboard seemly totally futile because of a fan header...

Any facilitate would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had to move my 3.4A Delta GFB1212VHG sports fan to a molex, and I start the sports fan neglect substance. There's none room tabu of this. You can clear the error manually in Frame-up/Maintenenace/ Eventlog (OR SYSLOG)/ Clear. This will get you 1, or 2 boots without the message. I clean redact my computing device in slumber mood rather of rebooting. It starts faster, and goes second where I left disconnected. I'm shocked Dell checks for more than an RPM signal at boot. I'm running tach and PWM from the MB, just power to 2 causative fan from molex.
I've seen reports that disabling Keyboard sign in BIOS has cured this. It didn't work for me. Probably depend on how your BIOS is arranged.

Thank you for the response, you clearly put alot of thought into it!
Unfortunately the header itself is all in (or atleast isn't providing any power) as i tested the orignal fan with a modded extention cable and it spins high with no problem and responds to my fan control software.

As for the BIOS settings i can't find anything like you described, I'll look at the posts you linked though.

Thanks again.

Much gratifying but the fan itself is actually fine. It's the header on the mobo that is defective.

You can clear the error manually in Setup/Maintenenace/ Eventlog (or SYSLOG)/ Clear. This will get you 1, or 2 boots without the message. I just put my computer in eternal rest modal value as an alternative of rebooting. It starts quicker, and goes rear where I near disconnected. I've seen reports that disabling Keyboard check in BIOS has vulcanised this. It didn't figure out for me. Probably ride how your BIOS is set.
